Ep 156: Frenetic (F-word Monologue)

O.M.G.

I’ve been feeling frenetic recently and it's been driving me bonkers! I start one thing and I can't get it done and then I start the next thing and I can't get it done and then I find myself hours later having gotten nothing done! Whenever I get into this space, it drives me wild because I start feeling bad about myself and know, through my work as a life coach, that I don't need to beat myself up about it. So then I can go further into the loop of feeling bad.

Truth is, though, there's actually something bigger at play vying for my attention that's even bigger than myself. Listen in as I share what that is and what you can do about it. It's time for an uprising, Beautiful! We get to have our time, attention, and sanity back!

What You'll Learn in this Episode

  • Ways to reduce your screentime on your phone

  • What the most valuable asset that the information industry is trying to get from you today

  • The scientific reason why you keep grabbing your phone all the time

Nuggets of Wisdom from Shazia

  • The reason I actually have this energy is because I do accept myself, I do accept who I am. And I still do judge myself at times, but I catch it a lot quicker.

  • The greatest asset isn't money. It's your attention. And the reason that your attention is so valuable is that if somebody has your attention, then they can get anything that they want from you, whether it's money, whether it's influence, whether it's  your vote, whatever it is, your attention has become the greatest commodity.

  • So what is happening is that the social media industry is mirroring what the casino has done, where they just want you to have a hit of dopamine, they want you to like get that hit. When you get that hit. It feels really good for that moment. But the thing with dopamine is that the more hits you have, the less effect it has. So you're trying to get that first hit again, it's like drugs, it's like the person who's a heroin addict, they're never going to have the same high with that heroin as I did the very first time.

  • And you get to be on that path rather than watching other people's lives and then thinking, I should be like that person, you're not meant to be like anybody else except you. And the more time that you have with your own self, your own creativity,  your own desires, that space with yourself, the more that you can bring into this world.

  • Let's just slow down and reduce this information and even cut it off wherever we can. Because you are worthy of having your time, your attention and your sanity back.
